The Community Climate Action Programme is a collaborative initiative between local authorities and the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment. It is designed to support communities of all sizes (rural and urban), in taking impactful climate action at local level. This programme offers an opportunity for groups to adopt a holistic approach to reducing carbon emissions and building a more sustainable future. It is open to a wide range of community organisations, from those just beginning their climate journey to those with more experience in environmental initiatives.
The Green Roots Podcast interviews recipients of the Community Climate Action Fund where they share their experiences with the application process. The fund, administered by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, provides up to €100,000 for local projects over an 18-month period. Dublin City Council was awarded €1.9 million to support 51 community groups across the city.
