Launch of new website to assist SMEs

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar and Minister for Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan have launched a website (ClimateToolkit4Business.gov.ie) to assist businesses to account for their climate action efforts.

The website allows businesses to manage their climate action using a myriad of tools. Ireland has national target to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach climate neutrality by 2050. This will require a transformation in our economy, society and communities. Irish businesses will play a significant role in this transition.

While many businesses have begun the journey of moving towards a decarbonised economy, for some it can be a big challenge. The Toolkit provides a clear and opportunistic starting point for any business, guiding them to useful climate action resources. By highlighting the economic and environmental sustainability of our enterprise base, this supports our climate action targets while continuing to sustain high-quality employment, entrepreneurship and investment in Ireland.

Businesses can take account of their carbon footprint. Each tailored action plan features straight-forward, practical instructions and highlights the relevant guidance available from Government agencies such as Enterprise Ireland, the Local Enterprise Offices and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
