Background The Beaches & Dunes for Climate Adaptation training programme is a collaborative initiative led by Leave No Trace, the University of Galway, ASBN CARO and MSLETB (Mayo, Sligo & Leitrim Education and Training Board). The project was funded by Pobal, under Strand 2 of the Community Climate Action Programme. Together, these partners played a critical role in educating and empowering local groups on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) to protect coastal ecosystems. Training A series of one day workshops was successfully delivered across five counties, bringing together local residents, community leaders, and authorities across five coastal locations, equipping communities with knowledge and skills essential for climate. Topics included sustainable land management, biodiversity conservation, and water resource protection. Interactive discussions and hands-on activities allowed participants to gain practical insights into implementing NbS in their own communities. One Day Field Workshops allowed participants to experience local NbS projects firsthand. Observing dune stabilisation techniques and conservation efforts helped deepen their understanding of how community-driven initiatives can combat coastal erosion.The project partners collaborated to develop Dunes.ie, a dedicated website consolidating key resources for public access.
