CARO & Climate Action Research

CARO & Climate Action Research

The Climate Action Regional Office is not a research funding organisation but it does work with stakeholders from a range of organisations and institutions that are engaged in research in accordance with its work programme. It can act as a representative, a co-funder, a collaborator, a steering group member and as a project participant for climate research.

Climate Research Coordination Group

The CARO is represented on the Climate Research Coordination Group which was established under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2014–2020 Research Strategy. Its membership consists of departmental officials, local authority representatives, state agency representatives and relevant stakeholders, who either fund or use outputs from climate change research.

The Group supports and promotes coordination between relevant research funding organisations and provides a forum for the exchange of information on activities and plans. A key objective is to ensure coherence in climate change research investments in Ireland and the effective linking of these to European Union (EU) funding streams.

The Group’s Second Report on activities relating to the period to 31 December 2019 is available here
