Case Study:

From Here to There and Everywhere

Camera

Background

The origins of this initiative was to explore plastic pollution. With the backdrop of Covid-19 and the restrictions in place Mayo artist Katie Moore embarked on delivering this project online as a short film.

Solution

Artist Katie Moore engaged with the National School in Mulranny , Co. Mayo and with the help of  principal Louise Crowley a beach clean-up ensued by the students. Some of the plastics found on the beach were used for the art installation in the short film.

Katie Moore gained valuable insight on the project from the School of Natural Sciences at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) where she spoke with professor Louise Allcock and Dr Liam Morrison both of whom were very helpful and enthusiastic about the project.

Benefits of Solution

A short film was made and announced on Earth Day 2021 (April 22nd).  The message of the film is to change our path - do this by learning from our youth. This is all shown in an abstract way through the short film.
